It was spacious but not to the point of feeling impersonal. the staff were very freindly and offered to plan out my journey the next day so that I didnt get lost!!
The bar area lacked in ambience and the bar man didnt seem motivated or happy to be working there!
Friendliness of staff. Convenient to Walton Heath Golf Club.
Cigarette stubs left on patio.
I unfortunately only arrived at the hotel around 23.30, after a long trip on a Sunday night by Eurostar and car. But the staff were extremely friendly and helpful even at that time of night, and this weary traveller was kindly shown to my room. The room was very comfortable, as was the bathroom - all to myself!!! I mistakenly left some money behind on my departure the next day, but was phoned, and I duly collected it. Thanks to all the staff for a wonderful, if brief, stay. I would love to come again, but this time for much longer, to unwind!
The position and appearence of the hotel from the outside so the setting was beautiful
Other than when we arrived I don't think one member of staff actually spoke to us. Totally unfriendly. The room was ok but made small by an enormous "dressing table" placed in the bay window. The bathroom was dark and you could hardly see what was happening. Breakfast was such a bun fight with so little organisation we decided not to bother basically the standard and organisation of staff is deadful and it would seem to me that they just want the corporate seminar busness What a shame for a potentially lovely old house!
Breakfast very poor indeed-no cooked breakfast left despite 15 minutes left! Poor selection of fruit and cereals. Not worth £7.50 at all. Iron leaked water in room.
The hotel was very quiet and in extensive gardens - all very relaxing. The main bulding very grand. Loved the breakfast and the dining room and all the staff were very nice and helpful.
Thought the modernisations in such a gracious building could have been better and personally I would rethink the whole style of the place especially the"art" works dotted around ....ugh!
Superb location in beautiful scenery. Smart, modern and comfortable room. Very good breakfast. Polite, pleasant and helpful staff. Great value for money.
Radiator was noisy, too hot and couldn't be adjusted. Apart from that everything was first class and I would have scored 10/10.
Why should anyone use offensive language when listing the best things in the hotel???
Why not use this for complaints?? The first one is telling me not to use this box!!! And why, oh why does not de vere hotels realise that some of us (in fact, most) use an electric razor??? Fit some outlets!!
Lovely location. Very rural. Comfortable bed, lovely food.
Two lights did not work in the bedroom. More attention to detail in the public rooms. They have new decor, but none of the low level lighting seemed to work in the evening. Light some fires, it would improve ambience enormously.
the staff were very helpful, the hotel was lovely and although in the annex our room was very comfortable and clean
The Evening meal was excellent. In particular the Steak which was outstanding
The main building is beautiful, I was disappointed however to be given a room in a separate block which looked more like a 60's holiday camp. I am glad it was not a romantic holiday booking! - there was no sign of this in any photographs.
The hotel has a beautiful garden and is in a quiet location.
We paid for an upgrade to be in main house as we didn't like the room offered. The bed was very uncomfortable and there are no "extra's" in the hotel to make you feel relaxed or welcome.
Room was very modern, comfortable and clean.
Was in a room in the "Lodge", which is at the entry gatehouse to the grounds and not near the main hotel. Whilst not a problem for me, this could be an issue for many guests who would not appreciate a fair walk to use the hotel facilities.
The manor was lovely to look at, as were the grounds.
The room we had been allocated was tiny, it was basically a single. The walls were dirty and there were lumps of plaster missing. We then requested another which was in Charlwood. It was the same, the only difference being that the bed was not shoved against the wall. I actually have pictures which I intend to put on trip advisor to encourage people not to stay. The carpet was stained, the walls were filthy, the dressing table glass had stains and finger marks all over it, even the mugs for tea and coffer had stains in them. The list of complaint is endless. Not a very nice experience. The Charlwood to me was more like old staff quarters.
Everything was brilliant, room service, decor, the way the hotel was set up.
Room was slightly damp (We were in an annex room)
